Are You Ready To Look After Yourself This Year?

At this time of the year, we all start to think a lot more about our lives, our bodies, and how we want to change. Now, change isn’t always a bad thing. While we may not want to overhaul our lives completely or try to change who we fundamentally are, it’s a really great idea for us all to actively want to do things that improve our lives and make active steps to achieve that.


Change doesn’t have to be anything big or crazy or drastic. But sometimes, deciding that you want to make a few simple changes to your life can really make a difference to how you feel in yourself. These sorts of moves can also make sure that you feel much happier in life in general too. So if you’re ready to start looking after yourself a little more this year, let’s take a look at how.



What You Eat


Healthy bodies begin in the kitchen, and what you use to fuel your body has massive impacts on your health and wellbeing. Rather than embarking on a drastic and restrictive 'diet' instead focus on the quality and quantity of the food you're eating.

A good starting point is the advice 'If you can't grow it or kill it, you shouldn't be eating it. And if it wasn't around in your great grandmothers day...then leave it' Sometimes, the best thing that you can do for your body and mind is to ensure that you’re eating well and feeding yourself properly rather than just aiming to lose weight.


How You Look


As much as we should love the bodies we are in, that doesn't mean accepting every perceived flaw. I love make up and how it improves my image and makes me feel good about myself. A great haircut can boost self esteem no end.

Aiming to improve your appearance while accepting yourself can be a great thing if it makes you feel good! Whether you want to get a hair makeover, manicure or snap on veneers, or do a full body pamper, why not add in these goals now? That way, you can work on feeling incredible all year long.


How You Feel


From here, you may also want to think about how you feel. Are you energized? Do you feel healthy? If not, you might want to bring in a healthy morning routine to help you. By aiming to feel good and be productive first thing, it can help you to kickstart your day (and year).

I do a ten minute yoga based stretch routine every single morning and it has become as routine as brushing my teeth, but brings me untold health benefits. Little and often wins the day!


Where You’re Going


However, the changes you make in your life don’t have to be involved with your health or appearance in general. Instead, you can actually take a look at making changes that are going to impact your entire life and maybe even your future too. It’s nice to be able to think about where you’re going in your life and if there are any things to do with your career or future that you can work on this year to help you get there.

Set goals but be flexible when unforeseen change happens, if 2020 taught us anything, it's that best laid plans can be waylaid by circumstances beyond out control, but how we react to those situations is down to us.


How You Live


Finally, you’re then going to want to take a look at how you’re living your life too. And this doesn’t have to be anything too big or crazy – but just something that you do that allows you to feel happiness every single day. If you know that you want to really feel inner happiness, how you spend your time, the things you do, and even how you think all matter. So making small changes in this area can really help you.
