Affordable Classic Camel Coat : Over 40 Style

Hey lovelies,

Let me share what I consider one of the ultimate classics of a winter wardrobe ..a camel overcoat.

If you're looking to invest in a stylish winter coat then one in a neutral colour is always the best starting point. Black, navy, winter white or camel will see you through every formal or business events, and also those days you just want to look elegantly put together.

With this coat I wanted to move away from my usual choice of black, but stay within a neutral palette which is totally in keeping with my own personal style. I opted for this gorgeously warm shade of camel and went for a double breasted option which allows some extra room in winter for knits, and also some extra warmth across the front when buttoned up.

I find a longer length coat more flattering on me so knee length or more is my preference.

But here's the thing... while a camel coat does look expensive, you don't have to spend a lot of money to find a good one. In an ideal world I'd love to have a collection of pure wool coats, but my budget doesn't stretch that far. This particular one isn't wool, but looks the part and is super warm. It's from Primark and cost £30! What I would say is look for a thicker fabric which will drape and hang well and opt for a lining which also adds warmth and helps a garment retain it's shape.

You can find those wardrobe classics on the high street at an affordable price. Just take your time and make sure the style, colour, fabric weight and length is exactly right for you. The high street isn't necessarily fast fashion if you choose wisely and wear that item for years to come.

I'd love to hear if you have a wardrobe classic bought from the high street?
