One Coat to Rule Them All : The Trenchcoat : Over 40 Style

Hope you are all well and coping with the Coronavirus pandemic. To keep busy while staying home I have been doing the winter to summer season wardrobe swap. And as the winter woolies are stored away, the beautiful spring summer items emerge, including the ever trusty trenchcoat!
If I could only have one spring summer jacket or coat, it would be a trench coat. Light enough for warmer days, and roomy enough to layer with lightweight knits on cooler days. Opt for a neutral colour such as stone, beige, navy or black and it will become a wardrobe essential for many years, able to pair with just about anything in your wardrobe.
In this post I've paired the trench with black heeled boots for a chic stylish vibe, but just swapping the heels for white trainers transforms the look into a great laidback casual outfit, perfect for shopping or sightseeing.
For a trenchcoat that will stand the test of time, look for those classic details: lining, co-ordinating buttons, storm flaps, epaulettes and cuff details. Prices range from super high street bargains, through to mid range and high end. Whatever your budget, the classic trench will see you through season after season!
